Her name is Celtic for brave, courageous. She was my kindred spirit from the day we met. The smallest dog of the litter who had the biggest heart and a love for adventure. She was feisty and strong and silly. When we were young, we would go running or hiking twice a day. As we grew older, both of our responsibilities grew. I became a young professional, Keena the protector of our home. She stood by my side as I married my husband and she protected the babies as we brought them home, one by one. She never hesitated to bark at the squirrels and chase the rabbits. She was a water dog who would swim in any lake, stream or river she could get her paws on. Mostly, she was my sweetest companion, always by my side, through my greatest joys and some of my deepest pains. Her energy lingers though I am sure her spirit soars. Until we meet again, Keena… I love you.
